Climbing demands a certain attitude to work.
You must understand what climbing is fully about before you can hit it at your peak.
First the skills we already possess.
To climb is basic we all have a ability to climb it's called movement.
We all have a skill to use the holds on climbs it's called the human ability to use tools to increase our advancement.
Most of us can over come climbing's fundamental problems like suffering with vertigo simply by not suffering with it.
Second the skills we will need to attain to succeed.
So far that explains what will allow you to climb but does not explain how to climb
The skills you need are not present within you when you start you will have to train them to get them.
The skills are these, you will have to adapt from being able to travel horizontally to travelling vertically although at a slower pace.Your strength in your legs will get you up the routes but will need to be strengthened because of the greater work load.Then the arm muscles will need to be increased as in normal life they are barely used and they will have to carry your full weight at some point.And last you will have to adapt the skills you know to walking up the rock.
Climbing is essentially the strength to learn to walk up not straight ahead.The trick is that it takes a long time to learn as you have already learnt to walk you will need a new way to learn to climb and that is by evolving and adapting.The remainder of the climbing skills that get trained all the time will just be skills gained as you improve your technique.Like all things you need to know how to do something before you can start training the body to be able to achieve it.
